Tiling and Waterproofing Services in Adelaide

Good tiling starts with proper preparation. We take care of what's underneath as well as the finished surface.

Wall and floor tiling

Wall and floor tiling

We tile walls and floors in living areas, hallways, bathrooms and laundries. We take care over the layout, keep the grout even and finish the edges neatly.

Good tiling starts with a plan for the layout. We decide where the first tile sits, where the cuts fall and how the pattern meets doors and corners. We also check that the surface is solid and even before we start. Tiles can only be as flat as what's under them, and large tiles show up any unevenness, so preparation matters more as the tile gets bigger.

Bathroom tiling

Bathroom tiling

We tile showers, niches, bathroom floors and walls, after the surface has been prepared and waterproofed.

In a shower the order matters. First we prepare the surface, then waterproof it, then tile. We set out the wall tiles so niches and corners look right, tile the floor so it falls to the drain, and finish the joins with grout and silicone.

Just need the bathroom tiled or waterproofed? That's what we do.

Waterproofing

Waterproofing

Waterproofing is the layer behind the tiles that protects walls and floors in wet areas. We do our own waterproofing and we don't subcontract it.

It goes on before the tiling, over a surface that's clean, sound and shaped so water runs to the waste. Corners, wall-to-floor joins, niches and drains need the most care. Nobody sees it once the tiles are down, so it has to be right the first time.

Screeding

Screeding

Screeding gives your tiles a level base and the right falls, so water runs to the waste. Good for bathroom and laundry floors, porches and uneven slabs.

If a slab is uneven, or a floor has to fall to a drain, a screed gives you a level or gently sloping base. Falls matter in showers, laundries and outdoors, so water doesn't pool. A screed needs time to set and dry before waterproofing and tiling, so we allow for that when we plan the job.

Porch and outdoor

Front porch and outdoor tiling

The front porch is the first thing visitors see. We tile entrances, porches and outdoor areas, with tiles chosen to suit the job.

Outdoor floors get sun, rain and foot traffic, so the tile matters. Think about the texture, how it behaves when it's wet and how easy it is to keep clean. Talk to us before you buy tiles. A porch also needs a firm base that slopes away from the house.

Laundry and kitchen

Laundry and kitchen splashback tiling

Laundry walls and floors and kitchen splashbacks get splashed every day. We tile them neatly and finish the joins so they're easy to wipe clean.

Splashbacks sit behind taps, sinks and cooktops. Straight edges and tidy cuts around benchtops, power points and cabinets are what make one look neat. Laundry floors are often wet, so they need the same preparation and falls as a bathroom.

Silicone and caulking

Silicone and caulking

Where tiles meet a bath, shower screen, benchtop or corner, a flexible silicone joint keeps water out. Old, cracked or mouldy silicone can let moisture in behind the tiles, so we remove it and put in fresh silicone.

We use silicone instead of grout where two surfaces meet and can move. That's internal corners, tile to bath, tile to screen and tile to benchtop. When it cracks, peels or grows mould, water can get behind the tiles. Replacing it is a small job that protects everything around it.

Complex and high-end

Complex and high-end tiling

Large-format porcelain, mosaics, patterns and feature walls take planning and patience. Tell us what you have in mind and we'll ask for photos when we reply.

Mosaics, herringbone, large tiles and feature walls need more planning than a standard layout. There are more cuts, less room for error and more decisions about where the pattern lands. Send photos or ideas when you enquire and we'll talk through what's practical.

The process

How a job runs

  1. Get in touch.

Call or send the form. Tell us what you'd like tiled or waterproofed, where you are and roughly when you'd like to start.

  2. We talk it through.

We ask about the area, the tiles and what's underneath. Then we tell you what happens next.

  3. We get the surface right.

That means screeding for the right falls and waterproofing where it's needed. Both go on before any tile.

  4. We tile and finish.

Then grout and silicone. At the end we walk through the job with you.

FAQ

Questions about our services

What happens first on a tiling job?

The surface comes first. If the floor needs levelling or falls, we screed it. In wet areas we waterproof before any tile goes on. Then comes the tiling, grout and silicone, and a walk-through with you at the end.

How do I get a quote?

Call 0483 222 888 or send the form with your suburb and what you'd like tiled or waterproofed. We'll talk through the job and explain what happens next. The quote is free.

How much does it cost?

Every job is different, so we quote once we know the details. Call or send the form and tell us your suburb and what you'd like done. The quote is free.

Do you do your own waterproofing?

Yes. We do our own waterproofing and we don't subcontract it.

Can I choose any tile?

Yes, choose the tile you like and we'll tell you if something affects the job. A very large tile needs a flatter surface, and an outdoor area needs a tile with more grip. It's best to talk to us before you buy.

When can I call?

We're open Mon–Tue 8am–6pm, Wed 8am–6:30pm, Thu 8am–9pm, Fri 8am–5pm and Sat 9am–3:30pm. We're closed on Sundays. Outside those hours, send the form or email info@tilesa.com.au.
